Liturgy at the borders How didactics of religious education stimulates the academic teaching in liturgical studies

Abstract

Liturgical Studies see itself as a ‘boundary crosser’ (B. Kranemann) in theology. However, liturgics also has frontier areas of its own that receive little or no consideration in the curricula, even though these are becoming more present in pastoral care. This article will reflect on a teaching project based on a seminar conducted at the University of Vienna on the three exemplary fields: deafness, death, and dementia. The project’s basic idea was essentially based on the combination of didactics of discipline and didactics of religion, which enabled a  productive and experiential learning modeling.
