Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a concept that is shaped by the United Nations, respectively UNESCO. UNESCO provided the most important policy and programmes in relation to ESD. The current ESD-program ESD for 2030 emphasises the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the central role of education within this process. This article discusses the basics of ESD and introduces the current UNESCO-program for ESD.
