Does a teacher have to teach 'neutrally'? What is discussed for political education does not seem possible in denominational religious education. The contribution represents the central Beutelsbach Consensus in political didactics and concludes from this that political teachers should hold a transparent position. This is contrasted with a description of the position of religion teachers from the perspective of church and religious didactic in order to show the extent to which the positionality and attitude of religion teachers can be profiled with the help of the Beutelsbach Consensus.
