In Germany and Austria, both traditionally and currently, religious education is assigned to theology, with religious studies also playing an increasingly important role as a reference point. In the following article, drawing on comparative theology, the interrelation of the three disciplines is discussed and examined in more detail from a trialogical (Protestant, Catholic, Islamic) perspective.
