Abstract

Joint school celebrations with religious references are important social events for cohesion beyond religious and cultural identifications and identities. For this purpose the following typology was – mainly by Christian authors – developed: 1) confessional celebrations and 2) joint religious school celebrations within the framework of "Religious Exercises and Events" (RÜV), as well as 3) celebrations with religious references as school events (SchV). The latter type, however, collides with constitutional guarantees and religious principles. In this regard, this article deals on the one hand with the essential features of RÜV and SchV in order to distinguish them from each other. On the other hand, a new type is presented, the "cultural-religious school event", which preserves the religious-ideological neutrality of the state and respects the fundamental rights of the participants.
