Abstract

In the overall theme of the ÖRF, Religious Education and Politics, this article focuses on tensions between state regulation and religious freedom, using the example of France. There, the state is significantly involved in making decisions that affect religion, through the law of 1905 on Separation of Church(es) and the State. Already within this law divergences become clear. These should be demonstrated by means of historical and legal background knowledge as well as concrete examples of dealing with it from the everyday life of employees in public schools.
