The turn to subject-oriented religious education has long been completed. Didactic and methodological considerations of teaching and learning are focused on the processes that affect each subject and on the question of how learning can be structured in the individual pupil in order to build up desired competences. However, far too little attention is paid to the role of artifacts in learning. In the context of interreligious learning, a gift to the child has become widely accepted. What influence do objects have on learning, what is determined by them without always being sufficiently clear? The article clarifies the power and specificity of things in the teaching-learning processes.
