Abstract

The Bible makes the claim that life changes for the good when one is engaged with it. Johann Georg Hamann testified that he experienced this very thing in 1758. Subsequently, Hamann contemplated hermeneutical principles that are helpful for religious education today. This article applies these principles using the example of Psalm 69 with a typology between the Old Testament text and its New Testament interpretation as well as another typology between the New Testament interpretation and the present life of the reader.
