Abstract

This article attempts a translation-theoretical relation between theology and religious education. After a (1) brief thematic introduction and the subsequent (2) grounding of the framework conditions for religious education, (3) contours of a contextual understanding of theology, especially in the horizon of public theology as a practice of reflection, are profiled in order to finally (4) reflect on the location of the traced understanding of theology within religious education in terms of religious education pedagogy and translation theory and to frame religious education as a space of translation. The article ends (5) with a conclusion.
