Postcolonial studies and theories offer a toolkit to deconstruct powerful bodies of knowledge and practices, to reformulate alternative forms of knowledge and to enable resistant processes of negotiation. For about two decades they have been received in different theological sub-disciplines. In this issue we want to shed light on the reception of postcolonial studies and theories in religious education as well as their contribution to religious education and their limitations.
